Helping a Burmese Refugee Village
Rahab Ministries has started helping a small Burmese refugee village on the Myanmar Border. We have been taking food aid as well as clothing, school equipment and toys.
Recently we have started a program of putting in Bio Sand filters to ensure that the water is of a healthy standard.
We have also been running childrens programs while we are there. Rahab Ministries is helping to support a Pastor that has moved into the village to nurture the growing church.
Update: The people of Maw Gwee village are dignified, gracious people and we are blessed each time we visit.
This trip we took tools and seeds to enable the villagers to grow their own vegetables. We took toilet bowls for each house to help improve the hygiene in the village and piles of second hand clothing. Sunday lunch was cooked for over 300 people with seconds for everyone and Monday morning we cooked Thai rice porridge for all the children. There were many happy faces. Saturday night we played Shaun the Sheep, a children’s cartoon and Sunday night we showed the Jesus movie in the Karen language. Many people responded to the film and will not forget having movies in the village for a long time.

Visiting Teams
We recently have had a large number of visiting teams. One team Miss Canada and the band Sargent Avenue spent some time with us on their way to an anti trafficking concert in Chaing Mai.
Also a team from Living Well church, Rotorua, New Zealand. They spent time with us performing, cooking meals and sharing. Every year Living Well church puts on a concert to raise funds for Rahab Ministries.
We have also hosted a number of teams from various countries who have come to observe and seek advice in setting up similar ministries in their countries.

Late Night Parties - Update
Rahab Ministries is reviving one of the very old initiatives of having late night get togethers for the bar women. Many women are unable to come to Rahab Ministries during the day so we are opening with food, fellowship and outreach at 2am in the morning.
Please pray for success of the many new initiatives.
Update:
Last Thursday night our outreach team visited the bars in our usual slot inviting women to come to Rahab at 2am. We were very happy to have 9 women arrive at 2am. They stayed for over 2 hours. Most of them were known to us, but some brought friends who had not been to Rahab before. We ate together and played games and presented the gospel in a number of ways. One 20 year old girl woman from Laos gave her heart to Jesus and another woman in her 30’s who we have known for longer rededicated her life to Jesus. We believe it was a successful outreach and plan on repeating it later in the year.
Update:
Our third party saw another 11 women come, many again stayed over two hours, eating, sharing their stories and just enjoying a safe environment to be in. One bar girl brought a customer with her – he was very surprised to find himself in a Christian ministry, but pleased to know people are helping the bars girls. He even gave us a donation towards out work. God works in mysterious ways.

Thai Floods
Thankfully at this point in time, both Rahab House and Rahab office in Patpong remain safe from flood waters. However, we all know someone who has been affected by the floods. Last week, Rahab took a day out to volunteer at one of the flood relief centers and we have plans for more outreach, practical help. It is good for all of us to help those worse off than ourselves.
